Overview

Optimax® optical UV adhesives are formulated for applications where bond line transparency and minimal optical distortion are non-negotiable. Grades 6435 and 6450 deliver low shrinkage, high refractive index stability, and excellent long-term clarity — bonding glass, PET, polycarbonate, and other transparent substrates without hazing, yellowing, or stress birefringence.

In display bonding, lens assembly, fibre optic applications, and medical imaging, the adhesive is part of the optical path. Any absorption, scattering, or refractive index mismatch in the bond line directly affects device performance. Optimax® optical grades are engineered to minimise these effects.

Key Benefits

  • Low shrinkage during cure — maintains precise component alignment
  • High optical clarity and long-term stability against yellowing
  • Refractive index control — matchable to substrate requirements
  • Low outgassing — suitable for sealed optical assemblies
  • Dual cure options available for shadowed bond lines
  • Low thermal stress — minimises induced birefringence

Applications

  • Optical lenses and prisms
  • Display panels and touchscreens
  • Fibre optic assemblies and connectors
  • Medical imaging devices and diagnostic instruments
  • Automotive optical systems — cameras, LiDAR, HUDs
  • Industrial imaging, machine vision, and sensor assemblies

Application Notes

Air bubbles at the bond interface cause significant optical scatter and must be avoided. Application under slight positive pressure or in vacuum bonding fixtures is recommended for critical assemblies. Where refractive index matching is required, confirm the cured RI value of the selected grade against your substrate specification.
