Overview
Optimax® UV cured masks provide temporary, peelable protection for defined areas of a component during finishing, electroplating, powder coating, or chemical processing. They cure rapidly under UV light to form a continuous elastomeric or polymeric film that adheres firmly during processing and peels cleanly afterwards — leaving no residue and causing no surface damage.
Traditional masking methods such as tapes, caps, and die-cut films struggle with complex geometries, recessed features, and tight tolerances. UV cured masks are dispensed as a liquid, allowing them to conform precisely to irregular surfaces, and cured in seconds to a durable protective barrier. This makes them particularly valuable in automated or semi-automated production environments where consistency and throughput are critical.
Novachem supplies UV cured masking solutions to manufacturers in electronics, aerospace, automotive, and precision engineering across the UK and EU.
Key Benefits
- Fast, precise curing with sharply defined edges
- Residue-free peel removal — no surface damage or contamination
- Suitable for metals, plastics, glass, and ceramics
- Reduces manual masking labour and associated rework
- Compatible with automated dispensing for repeatable results
- No solvents or thermal cure required
Applications
- PCB manufacturing — masking connectors, contacts, and through-holes
- Aerospace and automotive surface treatment and coating
- Electroplating and anodising — protecting critical surfaces
- Precision machining — protecting finished surfaces during secondary operations
- Optical and glass processing
Best Practices
Apply in a uniform, consistent thickness to ensure complete protection and even peel. Confirm full UV exposure to achieve complete cure — partial cure will reduce adhesion and barrier performance. After processing, peel carefully and inspect the protected surface. For complex geometries, dispensing under controlled pressure ensures full coverage without voids.
