Overview
Optimax® UV acrylic resins are versatile photopolymer materials used across coatings, bonding, and encapsulation applications. Grades 8067, 8167, and 8968 cure rapidly under UV light while delivering high optical clarity, strong chemical resistance, and reliable mechanical strength. Solvent-free formulations make them environmentally compatible with modern manufacturing standards and EU/UK regulatory requirements.
Compared to conventional heat-cure or moisture-cure acrylic systems, UV acrylic resins offer on-demand cure — the polymerisation reaction begins only when UV light is applied, giving operators full control over open time and assembly positioning before committing to cure.
Key Benefits
- On-demand cure — full open time until UV exposure
- Rapid curing reduces production cycle time significantly
- Low shrinkage ensures dimensional accuracy in bonded assemblies
- High optical clarity — suitable for transparent assemblies
- Superior environmental and chemical resistance
- Solvent-free — compliant with modern manufacturing requirements
- Compatible with plastics, glass, and selected metals
Applications
- Industrial adhesive bonding and assembly
- Encapsulation of electronic and electro-optical components
- Structural bonding where high clarity is required
- Protective and functional coatings
- Outdoor-exposed assemblies requiring UV and weather stability
Substrate Compatibility
Optimax® UV acrylic resins perform well on plastics, glass, and selected metals when surfaces are correctly prepared. Surface cleanliness and activation are the primary determinants of bond strength. Novachem recommends substrate trials before production deployment, particularly for challenging polymer substrates such as polyolefins.
